Appleton, Wisconsin – Robert Herman “Bob” Strutz, age 87 of Appleton died on March 13, 2020 at Century Oaks Assisted Living in Appleton. He was born July 28, 1932 in Gresham, Wisconsin, son of the late Herman & Gladys (Webster) Strutz.
Bob graduated from Gresham High School and served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Mobile, Alabama. He was introduced to Ann Eva Loughridge and they were married in Flora, Louisiana on August 2, 1955.
The couple made their home in Kimberly, Wisconsin (and later in Appleton) where Bob was employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation. He was a lifelong employee at the Kimberly paper mill. After retirement, they moved to Flora, LA. After Ann’s death, Bob married Gloria Anderson of Ashland, LA. Gloria passed away in 2009 and Bob moved back to Appleton, Wisconsin.
He enjoyed playing cards, panfishing, ice fishing, gardening, dancing, listening to music, camping in the Wisconsin northwoods and watching birds. He was a lifelong Christian and a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Appleton.
Survivors include children Lori (Phil) Henning, Buck (Julie) Strutz and Patricia (Jim) Strutz-Behm; grandsons Matthew and Robert Henning; sister-in-law Beth (Ronald) Carter, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, his parents, sisters Ruth (Ed) Miller, June “Pete” (Amedee) Poppe, and special niece Bonnie (Donnie) Hove.
A private family ceremony was held on March 20, 2020 and he was laid to rest next to his wife Ann at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Appleton.
