It is with deep sadness and in memory of a kind, caring and funny person who made others feel special that we announce the passing of Patricia Anne Hartnett, 76, of Appleton, WI.
Pat, as she was known to family and friends, was born May 19, 1949, and raised in Chicago, the daughter of Frances Leo Harnett and Janice Marie (Jochum) Harnett.
While born in Chicago, she had many addresses during her life, before settling down in the quiet countryside of Appleton with her husband, Greg. For the past months, she had resided at Silverstone Memory Care, under the watchful eye of concerned caretakers and the daily visits by her husband and family.
Pat had many hobbies, but mostly liked spending quiet time with her husband, whether on trips to Door County, watching their favorite TV programs, riding their motorcycle on country roads, or riding bicycles. Pat was blessed with a close circle of friends, and looked forward to their many lunches and long walks. She loved reading and when she was able, Zumba classes, traveling to see family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Sometimes Pat just enjoyed quiet time to herself, sitting on the deck of their home enjoying the sounds and smells of life, and soaking up the sun.
While born in Chicago, Pat was a Packer fan and loved to rub it in when the Bears lost. She worked as a teacher, an office manager, in accounting and lastly, she even tried her hand at her own home decorating company. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton.
Pat is survived by her husband, Greg Stone of Appleton; two sons, Tyler (Mary) Osterhaus and Nathan Osterhaus; her sisters, Jeanne Macintosh and Carol Daly; a brother, Mike (Janet) Hartnett; her stepdaughter, Heidi (Darryl Hudson) Stone; a stepson, Jason Stone and Grace; her grandchildren, Lunetta Osterhaus, Deva and Demi Hudson, and Dylan Stone; her in-laws, Terri (Dan) Martin and Scott (Gail) Stone; and her nieces, Melissa Cahill, Cecilla and Margaret Macintosh, Katie (Jason) Kutch, Julie Martin, Brandon (Katie), Benjamin, Avery and Nathan Stone. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her mother-in-law, Mary Stone.
A visitation for Pat will be held on Friday, April 10, from 1-3 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton, WI. A memorial service will be held following the visitation at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly consider a donation in Pat’s honor to Silverstone Memory Care, 5665 W. Packard St., Appleton, WI, 54913.
