Michelle Schauf Obituary

Michelle A. Schauf, age 50 of Appleton was reunited with her grandmother, mother and sister on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Michelle was born on October 13, 1971 in Beach Grove, Indiana and was adopted by Mary Horan and Charles Schauf. The family lived in different states around the Midwest before settling into the Fox Valley area. Michelle graduated from Appleton West High School in 1989 and a few years after graduating Michelle jumped into her next adventure in Colorado Springs.

After gallivanting through Colorado for a few years, Michelle returned to Appleton, WI to raise her daughter Jade Schauf. When she returned to Wisconsin she started working at McCain Foods where she created friendships and a support system that truly lasted a lifetime. Michelle was an amazing mother and dedicated her entire life to raising Jade on her own. She was a single mother that always put her daughter first and did whatever she could to give her a fun and carefree childhood. After leaving McCain foods, Michelle went back to her passion, the restaurant industry. Michelle found her drive working in kitchens and managing restaurants, her hard work truly paid off and was shown in the success of every restaurant she touched. Before her early retirement Michelle got to enjoy working at Meijer, a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen where she was able to make friends with amazing coworkers and different members of the community that frequently came in to shop.

Michelle had the biggest heart and was known for her amazing generosity. She would do anything to help a person in need and she will forever be remembered for her willingness to help. When she and her daughter adopted their three dogs from the Fox Valley Humane Association, it also led her to getting involved in fundraising for local animal rescues including FVHA and Apple Valley Pit Crew. Anyone who knew Michelle also knew there was very little she would take seriously and that she could make a joke in any situation just to make you smile. Her family and friends will always be able to tell you a story that involved countless hours of laughing and eye-rolling at her humor. Every person who has met Michelle will have a memory of a conversation with her that will stay with them forever, her personality is one that could never be forgotten.

Family meant the world to Michelle and she loved spending time with them around the holidays, at family cook-outs, and even the hectic full family vacation. She would spend hours talking on the phone with them to check in and see how they were doing. No one ever had to worry about feeling forgotten, no matter the distance that separated family, Michelle made it her mission to keep in contact so no one would feel alone.

Michelle is survived by her daughter, Jade Schauf, her sisters, Amy Schauf & Jen (Jerold) Schuetz, and her nieces and nephews, Dain Graham, Colin Schuetz, Maddy Schuetz & Olivia Schuetz. She is further survived by many loved cousins, aunts, uncles, and true friends that could never be replaced.

Michelle was preceded in death by sister, Christine Schauf, her parents, Mary Horan & Charles Schauf, her grandparents, Gwendolyn Hunter, Alvin Hunter, Francis Kyran Horan, Edward Schauf & Shirley Schauf.
