Marion E. Johnson, age 96 of New Holstein, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. She was born in Grand Chute on October 18, 1926 to the late Ervin and Rose (Witt) Fickel. On February 23, 1946 she married Thomas Johnson; he preceded her in death in January 2014. Marion lived almost all her adult life in Greenville, until 2017, when she moved to Willowpark in New Holstein to be closer to her daughter. She was a lifelong gardener who couldn’t wait for spring so she could be tending her tomatoes and flowers. She was an avid quilter and sewer, collected dishes and Hallmark Ornaments. She and Tom used to spend many Saturdays at G&L Auctions. She also loved dogs and couldn’t wait for her “grand puppies” Cooper and Lilly to come visit her. She always missed her little house in Greenville after having to move away.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Gerri) Johnson, Waukesha and daughter, Dianne (Allan) Fett, New Holstein, grandchildren: Mat (Jessica Bridges) Johnson, Appleton, and Abby (Brett) Johnson Gadow, Madison, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to Thomas, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother and his wife, Wilmer (Barbara “Bobbi”) Fickle.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St. Appleton. Burial will take place privately at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials in Marion’s name can be made to Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Paul and Danny Francart, her next door neighbors in Greenville who took such good care of her and Tom as well as their home while they lived there.
