We are heartbroken to announce the death of our mom, Jean Zoromski, who died on November 16, 2023, after an 11-month battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed.
The world became brighter on March 7, 1936, the day that Jean Kuehl was born. Jean grew up in Kewaunee, WI and moved to Appleton during her young adult years. She was passionate about the jobs she held during her life. From starting at Kewaunee’s The Pastry Shop during high school, to working at AAL (Thrivent) and Zwicker’s Knitting Mill (as payroll supervisor) to retiring from Atlas Tag & Label in the mid 1990s, Jean could always be counted on to get the job done. Jean also served on the Board of Directors for Community First Credit Union for several years. Her work ethic was definitely instilled in her daughters.
Jean was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church since her marriage to Ralph Zoromski on Nov. 28, 1958. She also devoted much of her time to volunteering. She held numerous positions at church including president of Christian Women, and she even became an usher at age 80! Jean also volunteered at Leaven and at school events for her children and grandchildren in both Appleton and Milwaukee. This included their school plays, concerts, and sporting events. Above all she valued spending quality time together.
Idle hands were not for Jean. She had many hobbies including quilting and sewing table runners. During the past 12 years, she helped her daughter with special projects at the coffee shop, Shellattés. Jean and Ralph loved to travel and went on numerous trips, always to a new destination. Camping weekends and vacations are fond memories for her daughters, and we will remember her love of the Packers with every touchdown.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph. She is survived by her daughters Sue (Bill) Ognacevic, Sharyn (Ed Kern) Brum, and Shelly (Ken) Baeten, along with seven grandchildren: Emily (Tim) Olson, Adrienne (Brad) Large, Nellie Ognacevic, Stephen Brum, Amy (Chris) Sharpe, Katie Baeten, and Chad (Andréa Meulemans) Baeten. Jean is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Lyra, Felix, Hank, Will & Chris. Jean was also predeceased by her parents, Lester and Anita Kuehl, brother, Don Kuehl and father and mother-in-law, Alex and Emily Zoromski.
