Janice M. (Helberg) Thoms

Janice Marie Thoms, of Appleton, passed away on her 74th birthday, Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Dimensions Living in Appleton. She was born in Park Falls, Wisconsin on September 20, 1949 to the late Roy and Lorraine (Cummings) Helberg. On July 5, 1969 she married Lowell Thoms. Janice enjoyed sewing, gardening – flowers especially, cooking and baking. She was involved in the 4-H Club, and Boy Scouts, when her boys were young. She was also very fond of the old neighborhood block parties.

Left to remember her are her husband of 54 years, Lowell, children; Shane (Samantha) Thoms, Craig (Monica) Thoms and Pamela (Will) Westlund, grandchildren; Brandon Thoms, Evelyn and Ethan Thoms, Rielly and Emerson Westlund. Janice is further survived by her sister, Elizabeth Miller, sister in law, Dorothy Helberg as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her brother, William Helberg and brother in law, Earl Miller.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton WI. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dimensions Living and to Moments Hospice for all of the wonderful care given to Janice during these last few months.
