James Carrell Obituary

James Edward Carrell, age 74, died early Wednesday May 13, 2020, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton.

Committal Service will be officiated by Fr. Walter Stumpf with placement at the mausoleum at 1:30pm on Friday May 15, 2020 at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

Jim was born on May 22, 1945 in Chippewa Falls to the late Lawrence and Audrey (Monpas) Carrell. He married Cynthia (Domke) Carrell on May 21, 1966 in Mauston. Cynthia died on February 28, 2018, after 51 beautiful years of marriage.

Jim had a strong faith. He said the week just didn’t feel right if he wasn’t able to go to church on Sunday.

Jim was a great family man, devoted husband and a loving father. He spent as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors and had a passion for fishing, hunting and trapping. He shared his passion for hunting along with his commitment to safety as a Hunter’s Safety Instructor for 30 years. Jim held many jobs during his lifetime starting with paperboy and ending with Heating and Ventilation Specialist at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He felt education was important and welcomed the opportunity to take classes and learn something new. He was a creative, multi-talented and knowledgeable guy that people would call when they were stuck on a project or were looking for advice on how to fix something. He had a knack for figuring things out with what he thought was just a common sense approach. He was the kind of neighbor you could call in the middle of the night to come over and help get your furnace running. Jim loved to tell a joke or make a quick witted comment, hoping to get a laugh.

Jim is survived by his children, daughter, Carey (Dave) Marcusen and her children, Ashley and Rick; son, Matt (Ann) Carrell and his children Trent and Savannah; son Chris (Jean) Carrell and his children Michael, Brianna, Kaylee, Jonathan, Alyssa and Cole; sister Yvonne Priessnitz; brother Richard (Janet) Carrell; twin brother Wayne (Mary) Carrell and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Caitlyn.

A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses that provided care to Jim over the years including DaVita Fox River Dialysis, Fresenius Dialysis-Appleton and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton where tremendous compassion was shown during his final hours.

Jim’s daughter was by his bedside and shortly after his passing she told him she hoped he was “fishing with Jesus in heaven and catching the big one…well maybe better to let Jesus catch the big one”. Jim would want to be remembered with a smile.
