Appleton – Geraldine Frances Carr, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, after more than a ten-year battle with dementia. She was born on May 12, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio daughter of the late Earl Martin Oliger and Mabel (Campbell) Oliger. On July 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to Charles Hagan Carr. He preceded her in death in 2013. Jerrie, as she was known to her friends and family, owned and operated several small businesses including the Mode O’Day Dress Shop (1969-1972) in Manitowoc Wisconsin, The Added Touch Gift Shop (1973-1981) in Albert Lea, Minnesota and a medical transcription service in Appleton. Jerrie loved to cook, had a special talent for home decorating and entertaining and cherished time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Robert) Ludka, Denise Carr, and Diane Carr (fiancé Paul Burke) and one son, Dennis (Donna) Carr; grandchildren: Tammy Burdick, Brian (Tracy) Ludka, Sarah (Mike) Venaccio and Jack (Tracy) Carr; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Burdick (fiancé Josh Lynch), Hailee Burdick, Foster Ludka, Oliver Ludka, Lincoln Ludka, Chloe Pierce, Maia Pierce, and Ian Venaccio; nephew David Brown and niece Susan (Brown) Mathews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Earl Martin (Bob) Oliger Jr and sister Shirley Oliger Brown; half-sisters Hazel (James) Pollack, Lucille (Paul) Hosman, and JoAnn (Harold) Butler, half-brother Jim Nation; brother-in-law, James Brown; great grandson Carson Ludka.
Due to the current health pandemic, the family will hold a private gathering with a celebration of life at a later date in Appleton. The family is so grateful to the Brewster Village staff for their kind and compassionate care of our mother. They treated her with amazing dignity and respect - we will be forever thankful for their dedication to her needs.
