Donald L. Roegner, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Primrose Retirement Community. He was born on June 26, 1951, in Iowa, to the late LaVerne and Wilburta (DeBoer) Roegner. Don attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. For 30 years, Don worked at Armament Systems & Procedures, where his integrity, vision, and commitment to excellence led to him becoming President of the company. After a successful career working with people worldwide, he retired in 2013.
On July 8, 1989, Don married the love of his life, Lynn Christensen. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and love. Don and Lynn enjoyed playing softball and volleyball, golfing, and downhill skiing together. Don got a hole in one in 1991 at Weymont Run! His extended family enjoyed it when Don took over the grill duties at the cottage while listening to the Brewer game on the radio and drinking a Budweiser.
Many of Don’s days, after retirement, were filled with watching sports and cheering on his favorite teams. He was a master of Word Jumbles and a wealth of knowledge. He loved watching musicals at the Weidner Center and PAC. Don was quick witted and frequently shared this humor in his creative responses to texts. More than anything, however, Don treasured time spent with his family. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, proudly supporting them in every endeavor. Don will be remembered for his devotion to family, his leadership, his kindness, and the genuine care he showed to everyone around him. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and in the cherished memories shared by those who loved him.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Roegner; daughter, Beth (Brian) Robinson; grandchildren: Claire and Carter Robinson; sister, Barb Parsons; mother-in-law, Pat Christensen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Kim (Bill) Brabender, Mike (Christina) Christensen, Steven Christensen, Lisa (Ryan) Hermus, Gregg Schierl; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Laurie Schierl; stepfather, Paul Hentges; father-in-law, William R. Christensen; niece, Anne Parsons; and special cousin, Randy Roegner.
A Funeral Service for Don will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of the service. Don will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
