Marie Magdalene (Kloser) Pluemer, 98, of Appleton, died peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018. She was born February 25, 1920 in North Buena Vista, IA, daughter of the late Albert and Louise (Rinicker) Kloser. Marie married the love of her life, George Pluemer, on June 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2017.
Marie was always busy and had many avocations. She was a passionate gardener, and a longtime member and leader of the Wisconsin Chapter of Garden Club of America. She studied for years to become an Instructor of Horticulture and Master Flower Judge. Many of you also know her as the Avon Lady, a role in which she served for many years. Additionally, Marie was an avid Green Bay Packer fan (and overall sports enthusiast by marriage!). She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton, where she attended Mass most days, served communion, visited shut-ins, and tended to the flower arrangements for many, many years. She continued to pray daily for family, friends and strangers from St. Pius and elsewhere until she passed.
Marie’s greatest joy was her family, and she is survived by multiple generations including her children: Ann (Christopher) Barber, San Francisco, CA; James, Orange, CA; and Donald (Patricia) Stronck, Council Bluffs, IA; and, her grandchildren; Alexandra and Andrew Barber; Jard and Jace Pluemer; Peter Stronck; John (Becky) Stronck; Sara (Michael) Kuebler; and, Scott (Ashley) Stronck. Her great-grandchildren include Emily, Gabriel, Natalie, and Connor Stronck, and Christian, Nathaniel and Ella Marie Kuebler. Marie is also survived by her sister, Ann Bjorneby; brothers, John (Rita) Kloser and Herman Kloser; sister-in-law, Delores Kloser, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Stronck, from whom she was widowed at a young age; her daughter, Emilie (Stronck) Kennison, who passed away earlier this year; sisters: Sister Bertha Marie Kloser; Louisa Kloser; Loretta (Al) Frieberg; Florance (Bud) Hefel; and Fran (Raymond) Steffens; and, brothers: Albert (Germaine) Kloser Jr., and Joe Kloser.
To honor Marie’s life, a Mass of Christian burial will occur Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton with Fr. Adam Bradley officiating. Visitation for Marie will be held at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:15 AM with Mass to follow at 11:30 AM.
Thank you to family and friends, and everyone who helped care for Marie. She heard your prayers and felt your love.
