Judy Marson Obituary

Judy Ann Marson, 70, died Saturday December 15, 2018 after a fourteen year battle with ovarian cancer. Her battle never dampened her spirit, positivity or sense of humor.  She was born in Oshkosh on June 24, 1948, daughter of Richard and Ellen (Ruddy) Juedes. Judy married Russell Skinner in July, 1970. They had two children together, Christa Fulwiler and Jason Skinner. She later married Bruce Marson on December 15, 1990 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Appleton. Judy died on her and Bruce’s 28th wedding anniversary.

Judy obtained her nursing degree from Madison General School of Nursing in 1970. She worked one year at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh, and 34 years at St. Elizabeth (Ascension) Hospital, Appleton, retiring in 2004 due to her battle with ovarian cancer. Judy volunteered her time and talent after retiring, working at the welcome desk at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Appleton. Judy was an avid biker,  cross country skier and enjoyed her water exercise classes at the Y.M.C.A. She loved to cook and prepare tasty meals for everyone. Judy loved to bake cookies for her children and grandchildren. She loved to camp at Peninsula State Park and stay at the family cabin on Lake Nokomis in Tomahawk.

Judy is survived by her loving husband Bruce; mother Ellen; four children: Christa (Eric) Fulwiler, Appleton, Jason Skinner, Hermosa Beach, CA, Larry (Helen) Marson, Mukilteo, WA., Amy (Todd) Nelson, Greenville;  six grandchildren: Christian “CJ” Boshers, Sierra Shadduck, Adam McCann, Hayley McCann. Logan Marson and Lukas Marson; two great grandchildren: Ava and Elijah Boshers; two brothers: Steven (Cheryl) Juedes, Oshkosh and Michael (Bonny) Juedes, Van Dyne; her sister Barbara (Duane) Molash, Oshkosh; she was further survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard; and step father George.

Memorial service for Judy will be 11:00 AM on Saturday December 22, 2018 at OUR SAVIOUR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N Meade St; with Rev. Kurt Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 until 10:45 AM, with the service to begin at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Judy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Timothy Goggins, who was Judy’s Oncologist for 14 years, the entire staff at St. Paul Hospice Service, especially her nurse Jean, and social worker Julie, for all of their care and compassion.

Judy was the definition of what a “lady” is. She was kind, patient, elegant and positive in her own special way. At the same time she was a “trooper” with a positive attitude a strong belief in God. She will be missed by everyone who she came in contact with, as she always left a positive, lasting impression.

Avoiding sadness today is like standing in the ocean and avoiding wetness. Sadness is part and parcel with the experience of the day.
