Joan Elizabeth (Fischer) Giuliani

Joan Elizabeth Giuliani, 89 died Saturday December 15, 2018. She was born in Marshfield on July 7, 1929, daughter of the late Leo and Mathilda (Gloudeman) Fischer. Joan married Walter Laes on August 19, 1950. They had four children together: Paul, Peter, Pamela and Patrick. Walter preceded her in death in September 1993. Joan married Joseph Giuliani on October 2, 1990. He preceded her in death in March 2000. She was blessed to find love and happiness again with Lyle Ratzburg.

Joan worked as a mail clerk for the United States Postal Service in Green Bay. She volunteered her time and talent at St. Vincent de Paul and with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Joan is survived by her four children: Paul (Mary) Laes, Cottage Grove, MN, Peter Laes, Waukegan, IL, Pamela Laes-Meyer, Indianapolis, IN, and Patrick (Jana) Laes, Howard, WI; seven grandchildren: David (Tina) Laes, Cottage Grove, MN,  Andrew (Laura) Laes, St. Paul, MN, Dr. JoAn Laes (Dan Bellandi), Roseville, MN, Peter (Mayuko) Laes, Stevens Point, WI, Nicholas (Andrea) Laes, Oxford, OH, Christopher Laes, Wausau, WI, and Michael Laes, Green Bay, WI; seven great grandchildren: David, Nicole, Quiana, Quentin, Quassia, Conner and Charlotte; and a brother Raymond Fischer. She was further preceded in death by her five siblings: Jack, William, Michael, Mary Ann Jack and Charles.

Mass of Christian burial for Joan will be 10:30 AM on Thursday December 20, 2018 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 until 10:15 AM, with Mass to begin at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
