Evelyn “Evie” Wilhelme (Fenner) 82, of Menasha, finished her life journey and was received into the arms of our Lord on Sunday January 13, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born on February 7, 1936 in Appleton, Evie was the daughter of the late Carl and Viola Fenner. She graduated from Menasha High School Class of 1953 and immediately started her first job at Elm Tree Bakery. As a young girl, Evie loved roller-skating, ice-skating and dancing. She was also talented in drawing and playing the violin.
In June of 1955 Evie met the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” W. Wilhelme, at the Magnet in Oshkosh. They were married on September 24, 1955 after a three month courtship and she soon became a full-time mom. Years later, Evie went to work at Stokley Van Camp. Eventually she began working as a Lab Technician for Kimberly Clark, retiring on disability following an injury after 16 years. Evie and Jerry also owned a jewelry making business together called G.E.M.S.
Evie is survived by her husband Gerald “Jerry” Wilhelme, children; Kathleen (Peter) Stelow of Neenah, Jeffrey (Marianne) Wilhelme from Venice, Florida, Diane Edwards and friend Mike Delmas from Bullhead City, AZ, and Suzanne (Jerry) Perzentka from Appleton. She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; William (Dianne) Fenner, Earl (Nancy) Fenner, 2 sisters; Carol Franken and Helen Paltzer; she is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and her little dog Sassy.
Evie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Viola (Hegner) Fenner, her sister Janet Towns, brother’s-in-law John Franken, James Paltzer and 2 sons, Michael Carl and Steven W. Wilhelme.
A memorial service for Evie will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 19, 2019 at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton, WI. with Chaplin Matthew Cornelius officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM.
