Doris Thiel Obituary

Doris Ann (Dorie) (Lodholz) Thiel, passed away August 9th from metastatic ovarian cancer.  Wife to Chuck, mother to Travis (Renee), stepmother to Jeremy (Rachael), grandmother to Trina, Taelyn, Dylan, Hunter, and Aubree.  Mother-in-law to Paula.  Daughter to Clarence and Jeanette Lodholz, sister to Claire (Lynn) Summers, Gary (Wendy) Lodholz, Al Lodholz and Steve Lodholz.  Sister-in-law to Vickie Vandenberg, Bobbie (Dennis) Gerrits, daughter-in-law to Wayne.  Aunt, niece, cousin and cherished friend to many.

As a young girl Doris was part of the drum and dance team as well as played the accordion.  Doris started her love for the outdoor with her parents by traveling to Yellowstone camping.  When Doris and Chuck married their love for the outdoors grew stronger with camping, fishing, and exploring new places from Eagle River Wisconsin to trips across the country.  When Doris’s son Travis was born they brought this love for the outdoors into his life.  Many family trips to their campsite in Conover Wisconsin where countless great memories were made.  Doris was able to build forever memories with Chuck while traveling from Alaska to Florida and all the states in between, along with from New York to Las Vegas.  During her retirement Doris spent her days in her vegetable garden, flower beds and fishing with Chuck on the river.  Doris’s brightest day’s where doing these activities and spending time with each of her grandchildren watching as they grow.  Doris wasn’t the lucky one to be a part of our lives, we all were lucky to have such an incredible person with a heart of gold be a part of our lives.

A Mass of Christian burial for Doris will be 11:30 AM on Thursday August 16, 2018 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, with Fr. James Jugenheimer officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 until 11:15 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:30 AM.  Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

How can we sum up Doris….three words come to mind.  Compassionate, Strong and Patient.  Doris was a selfless person that cared deeply for each person she kept a place in her heart for.  Doris showed great strength through all of the challenges that came in to her life as well as her battles with cancer.  Doris had the ability to have an unbelievable amount of patience.
