Donald Earl Frederick, age 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam, at Rennes Health Care of Appleton surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born on November 17, 1946 in Appleton, the son of Earl and Marie (Voster) Frederick. He was a 1965 Appleton West High School graduate. While attending Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, he was drafted by the US Army. He served in Vietnam from 1966 through 1968. Following his service to his country he was united in marriage on September 15, 1973 to Sandra Feistel at Zion Lutheran Church of Appleton. Don was formerly employed with the City of Appleton as an Arborist and later with the Parks & Recreation Department of the city for over 33 years. He enjoyed attending Timber Rattlers games with his daughter, competing in online solitaire with his wife, and spending time with his family was his joy in life.
Don is lovingly survived by his wife of 45 years Sandy, his daughter, Wendy; a granddaughter, Kaliyah; two god-children, Tammy (Randy) Niec and Trevor (Alicia) Niec; a sister, Eunice (Ed) Ellefson and a sister-in-law, Nancy Swanson, many nieces and nephews and his favorite furry feline " little fart". He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, a brother Glen and sister, Nancy.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Ellisen officiating. Don’s family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will follow the service. Entombment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum (Highland Memorial Park) Appleton, at a later date.
