David VanDaalwyk Obituary

David James "Dow" VanDaalwyk, 67, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Appleton following a short illness.  He was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on September 12, 1951 a son of Jacob “Jake” and Cecelia (Butler) VanDaalwyk.

 

Dow coached Little League, Babe Ruth and Legion baseball teams. He holds the record for 56 wins in a row. He also coached basketball at St Mary Central in the 70’s and 80’s. Dow was also an avid bowler and billiards player through the years.

 

David is survived by his mother, Cecelia, his brothers, Michael, Pat, John (Nancy), and Bill (Kelly) VanDaalwyk, and two sisters, Kathy (Mike) and Mary, and by many nieces and nephews. Also by his longtime companion Claudia (Montanye) Baum. David was preceded in death by his father, Jacob and a niece Jackie.

 

A private family service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018. A time of celebration of Dow’s life will be held at the 10th Frame on Thursday starting at 12 Noon.

 

Dow’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cancer team at St. Elizabeth Hospital and to Ascension Home Hospice for all their support and care they provided to David, and to Claudia Baum for the compassion and love she rendered unto Dow the past few years.
