James “Jim” LaFond, age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born to the late Walter and Caroline (Biechler) LaFond on January 29, 1929 in Appleton, WI.
Jim was a graduate of Appleton High School where he excelled on the basketball team. In 1950, he married Lenore Buth and together they raised three children. Jim was employed at AT&T as an installer and repairman before retiring after 40 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing and playing golf. He had a passion for woodworking and creating different pieces which he proudly shared with many of his family and friends. Anyone who knew him would agree they have never met anyone who loved life more than Jim.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lenore LaFond; children: Becky LaFond, Mike (Mary) LaFond, and James LaFond; his niece, Chris (Joe) Amble; his nephew, Craig (Kay) LaSota; and special family friend, Dennis Geiger. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Esther.
A private graveside service will be held for Jim at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Jim’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Carolina Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice, especially Amy, Tom, Ben, and Pam, for the great care and compassion they provided.
Jim always said, “The first 100 years are the hardest.” You almost made it Dad, we love you and will miss you.
