Ronald Edward Dunbar, 70, of Appleton died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born June 4, 1947 in the Town of Royalton, son of the late Harold and Zona (Durrant) Dunbar. Ronald married Sharon Kubichka on August 8, 1969.
Ronald proudly worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years and also served as an arbitrator for the Arbitration Forum. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Appleton. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, and was a Packer season ticket holder. Ronald especially enjoyed his annual spring fishing trips to Big Round Lake with his friends. He loved music and played guitar and sang in several musical groups. His greatest joy came from his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon; his two children: James (Linda), Fremont and Rebecca (Mark) Gilbertson, Memphis, TN; four grandchildren: Amanda Eake (sp. Friend, Greg LaSage), Jason Eake (sp. Friend, Megan Hansel), Tessa Gilbertson and Kiley Gilbertson; brother: Benjamin (Sonja), Asheville, NC, Wayne (Judith), Green Bay; mother in-law: Grace Kubichka, Manitowoc; Brother in-law: Dennis (Hazel) Kubichka, Manitowoc; and sister in-law: Marleen (Chris) Herro, AZ. He is further survived by his good friend: Dan Vande Hei; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Ronald was further preceded in death by his father in-law: Anton; and Brother in-law: Gary Kubichka.
Memorial service for Ronald will be held 12:00 PM on Saturday December 9, 2017 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Dave Farina officiating Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 AM until the 12:00 service.
